WOOD BLOCKS
John carved multiple wood blocks, creating a separate wood block for each color! He used up to 12 layers of colors per lithograph! The blocks shown were created for his 1968 thesis: "A Series of Original Prints with the Human Image as an Important"
SILK SCREENS

LEVEGATOR
John got his hands dirty grinding lithographic stones flat using the round levegator! The lithograpic stones are the flat rectangular stones on the left. The levegator is the round tool on the right.
COPPER BACKED PRINTING PLATE
The photograph was edited to increase clarity. It was adjusted for exposure, highlights, contrast, definition, Black point, etc. otherwise it’s pretty hard to see the whimsical figure. 5 1/4 X 6 inches. No title. Courtesy of Elaine K. Thomas
