ARTWORK STYLES

Exercises in Style

John experimented with many different art forms throughout his life. As he aged, he wasn't able to lift the heavy stones used for lithography and moved on to other art styles such as oil paintings and collages. John experimented with combining methods to produce unique expressions and it is challenging to categorize his work.

The following images are just portions of the art piece. To see the complete work, select one of the pull-down alphabetical Artwork menus at the top.

CATERACT EGRETS

Oil Painting

This is a small view of a very rare and very fragile original signed painting by listed Washington State artist John Paul Morgan. The work is a wonderful masterpiece by this accomplished artist who is best known for his print-making and measures about 20 x 15 inches framed. Because of the texture of the painting, it appears to be oil applied over thin paper. You will note in the photos a number of condition issues with both the painting and the original vintage frame. The paper is extremely thin and fragile, with a noticeable crease running vertically near the center of the painting. The paper in the upper right hand corner is separating from the backing and while still in tact at the moment, there appears to be a crack or tear in the paper measuring about inches, which may have to be restored by an art restoration expert after purchase.
